»»»»»News News NewsWe spent years in this industry, and for a long time Cyprus felt like a secret we were keeping by accident. Hundreds of studios, real games, teams whose work players already had on their phones and screens, and almost none of it visible from the outside as something Cyprus can be known for. Walk the halls at Gamescom, the biggest and busiest week our business has, and you would see country pavilions from all over the world. But you would not see Cyprus.
Here in CYGMA we want to change it. This August CYGMA is bringing a first delegation of Cyprus studios to Cologne under one banner: Games from Cyprus. It is the first Cyprus country pavilion at the show that drew 357,000 visitors from 128 countries to Koelnmesse last year.
The banner might be a simple thing, but this is the whole point. It lets everyone in the hall connect a game they know (or the one they saw and liked) to the place it came from. It puts studios that have always worked on their own side by side. For years they came to Gamescom each on its own stand or hidden under publisher’s logo. This time we come as one.
We’ve already launched gamesfromcyprus.com, and we put the whole idea of Cyprus into its logo: the words Games from Cyprus, a small sun sitting around the C, and a pixel island next to it. Cyprus has never been short of sun – and we want everyone on the floor to see that it was never short of game studios either.
In 2025 I walked the halls at Koelnmesse and saw country pavilions from places with smaller games industries than ours, and none for Cyprus. It stings to walk past that when you know what has grown on the island, and I kept wondering whether we would ever have a stand of our own on that floor. This year we will. CYGMA is bringing the first Cyprus delegation to Gamescom, and we will do our best to show the scale of it and share it with the rest of the world.

What CYGMA is running at Gamescom
Gamescom runs in two parts: the developer days first, 23 to 25 August, then the main show, 26 to 30. We will be there for the whole week, starting with Gamescom Dev, then hosting Cyprus Night at Cologne pre-party as an intermission, and moving to the main expo floor the next day.
At Gamescom Dev (August 24-25), we invite you to visit our booth, Booth B-03. It is dedicated to CYGMA and its partners – Unlimit and Mellow. We will talk about Cyprus gamedev, its scale, numbers, ecosystem, and the benefits Cyprus can offer for studios. The booth is also backed by Invest Cyprus, the country’s national investment promotion agency. Having support from an institution of that standing is a real marker of how far the games industry here has come.
Andrey Ivashentsev is going to cover this topic from the stage with a talk “The Last White Spot in EU Game Dev: How Cyprus Quietly Built 400+ Studios”. And it will be supported by the first edition of the Cyprus Game Industry Report 2025, which we intend to publish ahead of the gamescom week.
On the evening of the 25th we throw a party, Cyprus Nights at Cologne, at Früh am Dom. For that, we are once again grateful to our supporters: Unlimit, Mellow, Invest Cyprus, and Xsolla. Everyone is welcome, but we highly recommend registering as early as you can since the number of seats is limited. The registration link is live.
Make sure to make a stop and have a glass of Kolsh with us before the show starts!
Games from Cyprus pavilion opens from the 26th to the 30th, Hall 03.2. We’ll have nine Cyprus studios showing their games on demo stations, and a quiet corner to sit down with partners. Seven of the nine are CYGMA members, which makes us even prouder. The line-up is Brickworks Games, Crazybit, Cubic Games, Play Ducky, Horns Up Games, Mika Games, PlayServ, STRTL, and Tapclap.
For a studio founded in Cyprus, being part of the country's first ever Gamescom booth is a milestone we could not miss. CYGMA has brought local studios together under the Games from Cyprus banner, giving us a stronger voice than any of us would have alone. We are proud to stand alongside fellow member studios, build new synergies, and help show the international industry that Cyprus has ambitious games and creative teams worth discovering.

With thanks to our supporters
"We didn't come into Cyprus gamedev to be another service provider. As CYGMA's official fintech partner, we have a direct stake in the industry's growth. Studios here are building for global audiences across fragmented markets, and handling payments smoothly across those regions and currencies is often what decides whether a game scales or stalls. That's only going to matter more as gaming moves toward an agentic economy, where automated systems increasingly handle transactions on their own. This gap between fragmented local markets and the future of commerce is what we exist to bridge. Standing with the Cyprus delegation at Gamescom is part of that commitment.”
Sergejs Dupleca, Head of Business Growth & Partnerships at Unlimit
None of this happens on its own. Our delegates Brickworks Games, Crazybit, Cubic Games, Ducky, Horns Up Games, Mika Games, PlayServ, STRTL, Tapclap, and our supporters Invest Cyprus, Xsolla, Unlimit, Mellow, and GDCy are all behind it. Reach out to them in our booth or pavilion, or find their representatives in the meeting system. We as CYGMA are also available for meetings and can talk hours about Cyprus and not only its video games industry of today, but the one we’re building with our members, partners and our team for tomorrow.
If you’re coming to Cologne, come and find us. You can follow along at gamesfromcyprus.com, register for the party, or write to our team if you want to be part of it.
See you at Gamescom!
